I lOVE the upper part : shoulders and neck volume and contours. I find the shadow under the breasts rather confusing. And so I have the same feeling as you towards this photo.

sorry, but i really don't think you have anything going on with this picture. outside of the blatent physical characteristics of the picture there is no further depth; nothing that compels me to look deeper and think about what i am seeing.

Well, I'm glad you said it first... I'm not sure I like the photo either - but I clicked on it to enlarge and paused - and I'm not sure why I did.

It's seems to be starkly realistic. No attempt at flattery, no soft lighting, no classic nude approach. But the lighting adds to the starkness of the image. The lighting is so strong you can see the fold lines (wrinkles) in the skin on the abdomen. The attraction lies somewhere in the strong unflattering light.

I think it sort of evokes Rodin in his stark depiction of the human form.

Interesting image.

The starkness of the light is one of the things that appeal to me about this image. Reality works for this shot.

The symmetry is sort of amazing...even the shadows match...the only odd one being the one between the breasts. I see this one as a study of light as well as form.

It's a shot worthy of you.

But not one of your strongest, IMHO.

The light and symmetry are interesting. I get a sense of a continuous flow of contrasts, in everything from the highlight/shadow areas to the contrasting nipples - one inverted, the other not. The light on her torso is quite nice and the shapes created by the shadows are very complimentary. In that regard, I see it as a very balanced image.

However, the part of the image that continually draws my eye is the model's shoulders and neck. There, I find the light and shadows on the structure of her body are the most interesting.....

I can see why you keep coming back to this one. Still, I find much of your other work to have more impact.

FWIW -

Thanks for all of your thoughtful comments. I have a tendency to run into images of mine that do this to me. I've done some experimenting with crop. It helps to have 71 megapixels to work with. Let me know if any of these parts work better than the whole.
