dave_dube 10 Posted December 15, 2006 The rocks just seemed like they would fit perfect with a sunrise. Thoughts/comments Link to comment

mmmee 0 Posted December 16, 2006 I do like the color combination. I like the foreground interest on this one. I like the layers. The light, of course is coming from two different directions on it now! More magic. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted December 16, 2006 Julio, thank you for your comments and giving a rating. I always attempt to continue what you see as positive in an image.Maggie, company gone? Appreciate your comments. I did use a double flash on the foreground.Regards, Dave Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 16, 2006 Almost looks like another planet. Interesting effect with the lighting, Dave - well done. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted December 16, 2006 Don't ya just love being out when the sun comes up?! The glow on the rocks really gives this image an other-worldly feel to it, must be the lichen reflecting the flash. I have a similar image shot at sunset that I haven't edited yet, your posting may inspire me to do something with mine. Good use of foreground interest, a middle layer of darkness and on to the rising sun, good composition Dave. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted December 16, 2006 Thanks Kim and Susan for your comments.I haven't specifically said what I've done to this file but this is a composite of 2 images, the foreground and background. I removed the sky from the foreground image and added my sunrise photo in it's place. The only other thing I've done is made a copy layer of the foreground, changed the "normal" to "multiply" to bring out the darker areas and then reduced the opacity to blend with the background. All of this renders the photo manipulated since it wasn't captured with 1 shutter click. Even panoramics, converting to HDR or blending bracketed exposures are considered manipulated. Do I feel it should be considered manipulating, absolutely!Regards, Dave Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted December 16, 2006 Absolutely nothing wrong with manipulating an image, Artists of all kinds have been "working" their personal medium for eons. Link to comment
