dave holmes 0 Posted December 13, 2006 Lesa I think I maybe like this one the best of all the stargazer lily shots...I especially like the garish colors. Best regards, Dave Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted December 15, 2006 Very nice presentation, Lesa, with excellent stong bg colours. ( except for the partial petal that is cropped off on the left, otherwise perfect) Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted December 15, 2006 I love the compo and colors...very nice backgound (altough it competes with the flower for attention)...regards, Laurent. Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted December 15, 2006 Lovely Lesa. If you had described a pink lily against an orange backdrop I'd have said "oh no", yet look at what you've created! I love shots that successfully defy prejudice, they inspire creativity in the rest of us. Super job. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted December 15, 2006 Not the colours I would recommend anyone pair!!! But you have succeeded!! Well done Lesa! Your composition is outstanding also! Link to comment
lesa jones 0 Posted December 15, 2006 Thank you to all who have left ratings, comments, and critiques of this image. Cherlyn, I intentionally cropped off the petal. Don't ask me why, but it seemed to be more interesting that way. I know, it flies in the face of the rules, but as Mary Fran and Jan have stated I broke all sorts of "rules" with this image. Mary Fran, and Jan, the funny thing is that the background (a canvas board painted in oils) actually appears more "tan-ish" in real life. But as this is an artistic expression, I like the way it appears "orangy". And Laurent, your right in the fact that it competes with the flower somewhat. Again, I am a rule breaker for the most part, and I thought it was another interesting element for the image. Hey, someone has to shake things up a bit, and most of the time I am the one to do it. :)) I am extemely honored that you all have viewed and left comments...keep 'em coming!! Regards...LJ Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted December 16, 2006 I'll probably get eggs thrown at my car, but the 'rules' for creating still lifes are responsible for an awful lot of 'perfect' but deadly boring images. Throw the rules away and look at lots of Manet instead! Link to comment
lesa jones 0 Posted December 16, 2006 I do luv Manet, as well as Monet, Van Gogh, and Frida Kahlo. LJ Link to comment
