The first wonderful thing about your photo is the composition since you have clealy captured an entry point into the frame ( the rails ) ending onto the locomotive. The station is the secodary point of interest here which complements the locomotive. The dominating blue tone has created a nice evident chilly atmosphere. Very effective point of view. I wish you had used a little wider lens

to fully capture the station. That's the only minor glitch in my view.

I agree with the two previous commenters. I thought it was a little too dark, and tried this adjustment and slight crop.

Excellent shot. I also prefer your interpretation than Alton's. The covered sky and the moment of the day can't justify the brightness he has given in his version.

I agree with Ken. one f-stop underexposure has created a nice mood and conveys that chill in the air. just like gray cold overcast days you like to stay in bed.

Ken, I don't think my brightened one was the "altered" one. I think it was a bit of a brighter day than shown in the original. The original was either underisposed for mood or "altered." If you look at the histogram, there is zero information at the light end.

Alton and Ken. This was taken @ 4:52pm, more than 1/2 hr after sunset. Handheld @ 1/20 f2.8. at 125 asa. I metered to maintain truest sense of the hour.

Maybe altered isn't the best word. Brightened? While I like the fact there is more detail in your version, it's just that I like the sense of darkness & cold in the original. That's what struck me when I first saw the thumbnail. Possibly the levels were tweaked a little to darken, or purposely underexposed but it didn't seem so. I just like the feeling evoked by it

Colors, light, composition and distortion of the wide-angle lens contribute an excellent capture. Michael.

I really like the picture the way it is, even though the lighter version is good, the original conveys a greater sense of drama; and looking at the name on the photo, my guess is that this is exactly what you where looking for. Nicely done, Michael.
