alight 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Hello Mark. I can find only one thing I would change in this wonderful shot. The dead tree in the foreground is too strong - it has too powerful presence, that distracts from the background, which is the real dude here. If it were not for the "obstructing" tree, it would be a textbook gallery shot. Looks like painting. BTW, what are you doing in Yosemite at 8:30 am? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
ifeito 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Mark, Actually I find the tree in the front to be a very good element to anchor your composition. I mean, no one is going to shoot El Capitan better than Ansel or Galen, so why not resort to changing the composition to make your own version of this amazing landmark. The reflection on the river works perfectly and the trees in the background frame El Capitan just perfectly. What were you doing in Yosemite at 8:30? Getting a 7/7 shot!!! Read Mountain Light and you'll see that you were actually a little late shooting your image; but it still works wonderfully! Congratulations! Ignacio Link to comment
mark_kay 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Thanks for the comments. I liked the log and thought it would make it alittle different than the usual but again I do not think there is a right or wrong answer. Nonetheless, I posted another composition where there is less of the log.. comments on that one appreciated. Link to comment
christopher hansen 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Nice photo. I see you got the photo.net bozo 3 3 rating. Seems like every good shot gets it. Link to comment
