I scouted these wild sunflowers this past September along the Owens

River near Bishop, California and photographed them during a beautiful

sunset over the Sierra Nevada a few days later. When conditions seemed

right for another interesting sunset two days after that, I went back

to try a composition that I hadn't had time for during the prior

session. Both images have a strong appeal to me, but I think this one

is the most polished as a composition.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Justin, once again, the image is wonderful, and the aesthetics are just jaw dropping.

However I have to reiterate my comments I made on your earlier post, I think this shot would benefit from the same.

I also agree with you - I myself don't like cropping images after I have shot them. I prefer to return to the location and re-shoot instead, if possible.

Best regards my friend, Ashutosh.

Hi Ashutosh,

Thanks again for your kind words. On this image though, I'm going to stand firmly behind my in-camera crop. I like the space in the foreground corners. It sets off and adds shape to the complex pattern of the flowers, creates a flow through the foreground, and gives my eyes a place to rest.

Best,

Justin
