Mike Marcotte 49,762 Posted December 8, 2006 It looks to me like the structure may have been put up in a matter of hours, but someone took some time with that chimney. It's a beauty. Last week on our way back from the Tennessee of the Midwest, my wife & I went through the town of DePue, Illinois & it has some buildings similar to this , as if there were at one time a big company there & the small houses were for the workeres & there families. This looks like it could be in a row of houses for that purpose. I like the picture Doug. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted December 8, 2006 Even though one may be newer than the other these places sure have that hardscrabble look. The chimney is about the only flourish on these modest structures. Well seen. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted December 8, 2006 My thanks to all of you! This part of Georgia has large farm operations. I took these to be residences for farm workers, the current version of tenant houses. Both the old and the new did seem cheap and bleak. Link to comment

janiebarber 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Another great shot as usual!!! From what you mentioned it reminds me of our trip to west Texas when we saw the vacant run down small homes alongside the highway. Link to comment
