tylerwind 0 Posted December 7, 2006 The black and white version of this is in the same folder if you would like to compare--I'd be interested in hearing what people think. I thought this subject would be well suited for B&W but the colors are very nice in the scene (at least I think) so while it's a good "old" B&W I also like seeing the colors. Link to comment
tylerwind 0 Posted December 7, 2006 Hmmm...after receiving 7/7 from the first 3 people who reviewed this shot (which I thought was pretty amazing!) it seems my ratings are falling. Is it getting ugly as it is on the website longer or something?!?! :) Comments and ratings are appreciated, no matter what they are! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 2, 2007 I love this photo. It makes me think of an Andrew Wyath painting. I think it works very well in color, better than the black and white. This is a scene and feeling that deserves the muted colors it has. It's as close to black and white as you can come in a color photo and that's one aspect that's so good about it. The other is the composition. The three bales of hay seem perfectly placed to set our eye up for the house behind. There is depth and interest leading me to the main subject. Most of all, it's the feeling you've captured. The sense of peace and quiet, the serenity, the natural beauty that can even be found in a drying field and mostly bare trees. There's a little bit of loneliness here, but maybe it will feel better if I call it solitude. In any case, I think it's a special image. --Fred Link to comment
aramat57 3 Posted June 4, 2007 I like both versions, color and b&w. Hay bales and old buildings are one of my favorite subjects, I have a few in my PN portfolio. I would suggest going back when the shadows are longer, early or late in the day. Best regards, Tammy Link to comment
