janiebarber 0 Posted December 6, 2006 This capture of the old truck actually brought tears to my eyes. The memory of my daddy who died at 42 when I was 6 drove an old truck similar to this and when I pulled the photo up I got a chill. I love this composition, the lines of the fence showing such DOF, the haziness of the sky, and most important of all the feeling of the past. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted December 6, 2006 Thank you both, yet again! Janie, I'm so very pleased this brought up bittersweet memories for you. Thanks for telling me. Link to comment
sam starkey 0 Posted December 7, 2006 Looks like one of those winter days, no shadows.Being a man who works with his hands this photgraph also represents the end of an era when products were built to last, user friendly and made in America.I now own a John Deere riding mower and after 4 years use all the (green PLASTIC)hood and front end has cracked and been repaired several times only to be trashed and I have desided not to replace it.This truck is honest, the mower is not. This pick-up didn't have disk brakes, drove like a tank and if something was fixing to go out, it gave you a warning and enough time to repair the problem. Not so today. As far as this photograph, excellent perspective, starting with the tilt, fence line and vanishing point tree.To me that implies it's life. Birth, years of service,death.7-7 Link to comment
