Hi Gerardo

Your shot boasts vary powerful visual elements. What are the pictorial elements here? We have two manholes placed diagonally in the opposite corners producing a diagonal optical movement since they are similar in shape and value ( Gestalt principle of similarity). The motif here is a pigeon located in the 1/3 upper proportion of the frame. The bird is facing away from the camera, so it has lost much of its identity as a living being but still retains the unique shape in contrast with the two manholes. This poduces perfect emphasis through shape , recognition and position, orientation and contrast, so we observe a very powerful focal point which is the reciprocal point on which the visual importance always end. The total perspective is linear with the tiles featuring

similarity of elements in the ground and pretty pronounced lines towrd the motif. The balance is that of asymmetrical which provokes constant eye movement instinctively in search of balance. The interrelation of elements is superb here. The manholes and the pigeon form a triangular optical movement. With the pigeon being the focal point placed on the contrasting gray tiles forming very strong returning line terminating to the lower manhole in the corner, the visual flow is adeptly doesn't wander around but moves aon a very clear path toard where it can resume its optical movement on the three designated points. The frame is kept very simple as if it were prearrange carefully to produce a specific visual experience for the viewer. There are no distractions to disturb the conduction of visual path. The low angle of view has energized the visual movement. Kudos to Gerardo for such a trained sharp eyes for composition.

Arash, thanks for this exhaustive analysis of my image. I am in agreement with you in the use of the principles of the Gestalt. For a long time study the subjects of the Bauhaus on the graphical languages. They always seemed to me of a reason without pair, mainly the evidences of the distorted visual balance of the attraction points. The fact to move an element to unbalance minimumly the optical system is something that always it attracted to me. I am convinced of its utility in the disposition of the elements of a composition. Do you konw? , before friar I was cook. I mean that before returning to my old photographic uses I dedicated myself to painting and to the graphical design. I made studies in a Architecture's School, and soon the life and the daily work were able to train my eye. A great greeting.
