lonebearimages 0 Posted December 5, 2006 Deb, I couldn't give you a 7 for this shot (the dang system), but this is just a marvelous shot of a yellow warbler - one of my most favorite birds of all. This little fellow is probably loitering around bulking up to make his way either across the Gulf to the Caribbean islands, or along the Mexican coast towards Yucatan and Central America. Your composition and exposure are just stunning. Superb shot (I'm so jealous!)! Cheers! Christopher Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted December 5, 2006 I've been meaning to mention that as you are becoming so adept at photographing birds, go buy yourself the 'Sibley Western & Eastern Guides to Birds of North America.' David Sibley, the author, is one of the finest painters of birds I've ever encountered, and I think you'll get tremendous joy in identifying these beautiful creatures that you photograph so well. I wish I could buy them for you for Christmas, you deserve a set. Best regards, Chris Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted December 6, 2006 You know what, Deb? I keep coming back and looking at this bird closely, and I have realized that it is NOT a yellow warbler, but a Pine warbler (Dendroica pinus). This little guy typically occupies the mature pine and woodland habitats of the eastern United States, and winters in the southern states along the Gulf Coast, including Texas, and south into Mexico. Sorry 'bout the mis-identification in my first post. Great capture, Deb! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
