aepelbacher 0 Posted December 3, 2006 I decided that I haven't uploaded many bright colors lately. :-) This is my attempt at a sort of abstract. How does it work? Do you like it? Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted December 3, 2006 It is definitely discernible as the Hard Rock. It is an interesting perspective and composition of what has become an iconic symbol. I like it, Lou Ann; it has 'pizzazz!' Nice capture. Looks like you're going through your 'archives.' Cheers! Chris Link to comment
kcole 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Stacey called out the Hrad rock before I had it figured out:) Nice one, great bright colors of a very modern icon. How sad for me, that I have only once even seen the hard rock cafe and that was in Seattle.. Cheers Cole Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Yes ... WE have a great Hard Rock Cafe in DC. As in ... there is a great Hard Rock Cafe in DC and those of us who live in the Metro area can feel free to call it ours. :-) Thanks for your positive comments, everyone! Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted December 4, 2006 very sharp. love the bright colors and the dynamic close crop. really excellent Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 4, 2006 Lou Ann, I like the cropping you have done here, If it was not revealed, it would have remained a puzzle and an abstract....I would have cloned out the red part on the LR so you will have a diagonal triangles from LR to UL.... Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Thanks, folks - Pnina, this is actually a significant crop from the original. And I had worked it up for some of my colleagues and there was more in the bottom right, a white line and some of the street beyond. If I have time later, I'll post a wider angled shot so that you can see something of where I was when I took this. :-) Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 5, 2006 The original file, for comparison. Do you still think that I could do without the red in the bottom corner? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 5, 2006 I was taking photos from the two windows that I indicated here. I was at a conference in Niagara Falls, ON, and the conference room for my session looked out on the Falls ... gorgeous view. This was obviously taken from street level ... but helps you see what I was doing, looking down on the sign. Most of my shots came out with window reflections, even though I was using a circular polarizer. Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted December 5, 2006 So we are into abstracts now, huh? I like it. And, actually, I kinda like the red in the corner. It gives an unbalanced look to the shot that adds something, I think. Good job. Cheers. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted December 5, 2006 Hi Lou Ann! I first believed it was the mechanism of a plane door, but I have seen it could'nt be that. It required me even though a certain time to understand that it was a part of a neon sign. Anyway it is a good abstract shot, well composed. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted December 5, 2006 I love this shot! Knew it was Hard Rock before I saw the title and definitely think the red should stay. The bold yellow is just right and the touch of red adds to it rather than taking anything away IMO. Just love this crop. Very good to know that you were inside rather than out on the ledge for this shot! :P BTW, this punch of color was just what I needed...it's rather blah and cold here right now...no snow, no leaves, but lots of gray clouds...ugh.
