This is my puckish view of the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Paris, as

viewed from the point of view of an American. The French once

notoriously were abhorrent about the Anglification of their language

and use of English, but now almost all Parisian menus have

translations into English and Parisians no longer are famously

rude. Your ratings and critiques are invited and most welcome. If

you rate harshly or very critically, please submit a helpful and

constructive comment; please share your superior photographic

knowledge to help improve my photography. (and don't forge

that 'impact' sometimes results from 'humor' and may also be

ratable;~) Thanks! Enjoy! John

I'm not sure about depth of field, and then greater dof was attainable only with a tripod, which I didn't have of increasing the ISO, which I didn't want to do.

Depth of field being limited, I kept the focus on the 'subject' -- the 'Stop 'n Watch' binoculars, for the contrast.

Just my puckish sense of humor.

Others take pictures of gargoyles and the apostles and I take this.

Hunh . . .

Am I a little 'twisted'?

Michael,

Here, in my puckish world, the cathedral is playing 'second fiddle'. One of the greatest monuments of all the world -- the great Gothic Cathedral of Paris -- the Cathedral of Our Mother (Notre Dame) in which the King had his own private seating and in which the main floor was reserved for the Royal Court, now has been trivialized in my photograph to the slightly blurry object of a bad pun (STOP WATCH, being an object of time telling and 'Stop 'n Watch' for the binoculars, being a bastardization of that, in English no less; some Englishman's concession for his fellow English or UKers, I think.)

So, having seen this, and remembering such things from US national monuments and parks from times past, I thought I'd memorialize it.

How better to remember the great Gothic cathedral for which hundreds lost their lives creating this masterpiece of Gothic Art visible from much of the one-time area of Parisii (Paris) than to trivialize it into a photo of a pair of binoculars and then 'focus' on the binoculars.

I found it amusing (at least for a few minutes, and whenever I see this, I break into a broad smile -- I've defiled Our Mother a little bit -- No, I haven't done that, but I've captured her defiling, somewhat.)

Stop

and

Watch.

I do that from time to time.

Sometimes, I'm a little irrepressible.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
