Waves crashing on the rocks, Monterey California coast

This shot has a seagull, bit of food, starfish, and green slime on the

rocks. Details are very nice on the rocks and seagull in the original

slide.

... I do not understand how one who takes photographs as these can give an average rating for originality below 3.

For example this image. Crashing waves are all basicly the same, and very few are original, and for that matter interesting. This one is particularly poor with no composition what-so-ever and extremely top heavy.

The large rocks on the right are so dominant they take away from the image as a whole, in fact, I keep trying to look around but my eye involuntarly returns to it.

The only thing I hope is that you yourself would rate your photographs as low as you rate others.
