To all of you that have posted comments and ratings - it is very much appreciated. On that day, I felt blessed with the photo opportunities that were staring at me: ground frost and heavenly skies, then I had early morning light with ground frost then it progressed to fog and eventually to a bright sunny day. Always afraid that I won't be able to do justice to the scene but I was pleased with this capture. It was not long before my toes were also freezing up.

A so nice landscape with lovely colors... But if I may, I ask myself if the colors of the foreground are compatibel with those of the sky ? Did you postwork a little to arrive to this result ?

Best regards, Fernand

Glad you liked it - I took this image almost 4 years ago and would have to check the original. As standard work flow i would have dodged and burned areas of the image that I thought needed to be done. I do remember it was a special morning as a photo buddy and I embarked on a one day fall photography adventure.

This is very pretty - Congratulations. It is a real shame that the anonymous raters thought this was average (4.7)

Tony - Great idea here and the sky is really serendipitous. But the comp feels left heavy to me. The theme if I get it, is a wall of trees, but I don't think the small shrubs on the r or the bright yellow streak in sky compensates for the abrupt gap in the trees. Just my take.

Inger, Bella and Marc - Sorry for the late reply - your visit and comments are all very helpful.

Marc, I see where you are coming from and that may well be the reason why this is rated in the low fives. I put it in my portfolio sample because there is something that really appeals to me - the stark white frost on the ground in total contrast to the red and orange skies. I see horizontal layers with the trees giving some vertical contrast. It is a study in contrasts and for me - beauty -  which is in the eye of the beholder. Besides it holds special memories for me of a fabulous day of photo ops that I did one Saturday morning. This image was 5 minutes away from my house and the rest of the day was full of surprises as I headed from Candiac to Owl's head mountain in the "Eastern Townships' of Quebec.

Best regards and all input is appreciated,
