this is delicate shot...peaceful...a nice juxtaposition of statue and real people...just the right DoF dose (for me)...maybe a bit more details on the sea (but exposure is not so evident in such a scene) well done.

Much appreciated. I took this shot and moved on quickly, and then, later, I kicked myself in the butt for not being more painstaking and trying different things and really working with the shot. I have a bad tendency to do this shoot and run thing, and I need to overcome it.

This doesn't really relate to the photo, but I'm curious: what's the story with the statue? What's it supposed to depict (I mean, yes, I can see it appears to be a little boy, but why there? Whose little boy? Why is he pointing?)

That's all I need. Now the next time I'm in Monterey, I'll have to do some research. It never ocurred to me to think about why this statue is there or what it's meaning is. Guess that's a commentary on you being the deep thinking philosopher and me being the surface scanner of life.

In the meantime I will suggest that since this location is called, "Lover's Point," they placed the bench there, knowing that there would be romantically inclined couples enscounced thereon. Given this fact, there is a known proclivity for teens to be ardently romantic and shamelessly public. So, perhaps the statue is placed there pointing at them accusingly in hopes that they will be shamed into toning down their public display of affection with this little tyke directing everyone's attention toward them.

Yeah, I kind of like that story.

This speaks to me about the perennial desire that children have to be noticed by adults. Sometimes they might feel just like the statue.

Thanks. It's nice to see someone looking at the old stuff. It seems that once a photo has been posted for a week or so, that nobody ever sees it again.
