Exposure is tricky with a two-toned cat. Exposed one layer for the

whites and one for the color, then combined. Comments?

Yeah, I'm afraid he's a keeper! I'm going to get a little Santa hat and cape for him and see if I can get some shots for Christmas cards. When he sleeps, he crashes! I can probably sneak some outfits on him and try for a picture or two. :)

Thanks, guys. Now that we've decided to keep him, he's become quite the wild kitty - stalking, pouncing, biting! When we hadn't made the decision yet, he was such a sweet, gentle kitten. :)

Those poor mice haven't a chance. One look into those big beautiful eyes and they will just stop in their tracks. Who couldn't fall in love with this kitten? :-)

Wow! What incredible eyes! The color and texture and lighting are just right.

How did you get him to stay still long enough for two exposures in the same position? The technique works really well . . (not to mention the skilled photographer). ..

Donna, I shot in RAW, slightly underexposed. I then made layers, with one layer exposed properly for the whites and the second layer exposed correctly for the darker colors. Combined the layers and brought back the partial layer with the whites (that weren't blown out). If your original shot is overexposed and the whites blown out, you can't do that, but with it slightly underexposed, it keeps the detail nicely.

Very nice shot! Nice clarity and detail- you can see the individual hairs and whiskers. I love the look! Very natural colors also. Well done!-Best Regards, Marty
