Cropped to far out? I would crop closer, leaving just a tad of background on both sides of the wings, a bit more below the bird and about half what is there now above. Nice capture although I would have preferred the wings up to catch the light better.

yeah, thats what i was thinking, but also liked all the negative space... As for light, well that was hard on that day. (most of these pictures are from one session). It was early morning, and there was a tree blocking a fair amount of the light. Personally, i though the light was pretty neat here though. I think my monitor may be too bright though (but thats not what online calibration charts show though...).
