This now has a position in my carefully-guarded 'highest-rated' folder of others' works.

Congratulations. Brilliant.

viewed larger this shot doesn't impress me very much, the subject looks ruffly cuted from other shot and posted on a gradiented background...i think most of the criticism is just because it's on 1th place

Simplicity is everything. But the hot area in the bottom right suggests it is the source of light creating the shadow. If so, isn't the direction of the shadow in an angle different from what it should be?

Why the shadow is not in the same direction as the ray of light !?? Is it wanted ? Maybe thats why this photo got so high rating ??

I am going to agree with those that find this image a let down. While the photographer has many others in his portfolio deserving of praise, this is not one of them. The small figure is simply a "cut and paste" over a Photoshop background (something rather more than just a touch in Photoshop). The shadow, as has been mentioned several times above, is inconsistent with the direction of the Photoshopped light source. If one is going to create a computer graphic one should be able to do so perfectly. Unlike an actual photograph that would have many variables to contend with, this creation should have been fairly easy to do.

My comment is not meant to deprecate the artist's efforts. These are points that I try to look for in my own work. Regards.

I'm glad someone decided to speak up about this image. So little of this image can be considered a photograph. Looks like it's back to the drawing board.

Excellent composition and wonderful light. To me meaningful result, influencing my psyche, and not method as it is achieved.

Sorry to say this but this images is just like cut and paste with a gray color for the background, the image of the guy don't even look into the background, I don't know why people give a high rate and say "nice shot", this is not a single shot this is a digital alteration with a wrong way shadow. Like a say in the begining sorry if you take it personally, I just wanted to say my opinion.

There is absolutely nothing about this image that I like. I'm really sorry, but I have to be honest, and in my honest opinion this image deserves a 3 at most. Sorry, but I simply don't see that there anything to it.
