Image of dancer by Alec Ee and the background through kind courtesy

of Gul Chotrani. Check out http://www.pbase.com/gbc

The door is one of several found in Amber Fort, which was the citadel

capital (old capital) of Jaipur, during the period 1592-1727. Also

known as Red Fort in some literature, it is the most noted and

visited of the Rajasthani forts.

The ornamentalised style of building interiors and fittings are

heavily characterised by the use of floral and feather repeat

geometry, in vibrant colors, predominantly hindu. Being a palace

door, the style and grandiose size demonstrates power of the ruling

king of Jaipur who rivals his neighbours of Udaipur, Jodhpur,

Jaisalmer etc...

This particular door may appear to be grand but there are other

interior fittings of greater magnificence at Amber Fort.

The portrait is great. All creates this oriental atmosphere - outfit, background... Tons of details, beautiful model and her pose. Great.
