The people living in the mountains of Pakistan grind their grain in

traditional water mills which are still very common in most of the

villages. Thanks for your feedback. Karl

Karl I am guessing here but please confirm if I'm correct. The round disk is a stone that is spinning and grinding the grain? The basket on top holds the grain which is released into the hole so it can slide under the stone to be ground?

Something like that?

Thank you all for your comments.

Shawn, yes, you are right. The millstone is driven from below by the force of water running down a steep channel to drive a wooden water wheel.

Farsad, happy you are able to appreciate less glamorous models. You have an astonishing collection of glamour photos in your portfolio.

Alfredo, thanks for the virtual 7/7. I am sure you would produce an exciting Leica style black and white photo from this place. Karl

Fascinating and beautifullypresented. The textures and location are wonderful the inclusion of the person allows the viewer to ponder the story. I like the play of the shadows as well. A pleasure to share this my friend. Cheers, Gerhardt
