Beautiful old-fashioned composition. Colours, the old picture, pot and cup... maybe the photo could be whole in frame. Lovely work.

I don`t usually like still life-shots very much, but this one is gorgeous! It seems to have a lot of stories to tell. And the atmosphere is wonderfully nostalgic. Very nice:)

Emanuela, rather than critique your image, could I ask to learn from you? The elements of your image, the ornate gold wall covering, Baroque frames, key hung by a silk ribbon, beautifully decorated china, rose pedals, crochet doily--I suppose surrounding yourself with such grand, romantic items could be seen as decadent or simply as symbols of a life well lived. Decadence to me implies haughtiness, self absorption. The inclusion of the photograph implies that these items are associated with this particular couple that appear so prim, proper and straight laced. It seems incongruous that such a couple could be decadent.

My question is: what does the photograph have to do with your chosen title. Am I wrong about the couple in the photograph or is there something that your image is not sharing? Is your title a hidden meaning or is it saying that there are things about others that are not readily apparent? That we hide behind facades and do not fully expose ourselves? Sometimes photographs are about the photographer rather than the subject. Sometimes there are elements that create conflict and sometimes that conflict is irresolvable within the image. Interesting questions in your photograph and title. Where do I go with these questions?

In any case it is a very beautifully designed photographs both in color and composition. It is a photograph that prompts viewing and questioning--both admirable qualities to hold the viewers attention.

Hi Gary, thanks for your comment and sorry for my grammatical mistakes...:)

i'll try to explain my title"Decadence"...i've got this idea while i'm reading a book located in Rome in the early 1900, "The Plesure" written by Gabriele D'Annunzio...so, i would create that atmosphere of decadence, with a death rose, old cups, a romantic mirror, a misterious key, and...an old photo of..my grandfather and grandmother!!!

It's your decadence, in that photo they were young and now...

I hope that i explained you my photo...bye!

Emanuela
