bosshogg 4 Posted July 1, 2008 I spotted this and it caused me to reflect a bit. I was thinking that this could be viewed two ways. First is in a claustrophobic sense, which is a kind of immediate reaction. But then I got to thinking that there might be a lot of good in this lifestyle. There is a sense of knowing your neighbor, and of having a sheltered timeless surrounding. Totally distinct from our sprawling ranchos. Kind of fun to speculate. For sure it represents a lifestyle that is totally foreign (pun not intended) to me. Link to comment
baerbel 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Dave, thank you for your comment. This was taken in Nice, southern France, a beautiful city for sure. There are very wide and nicely landscaped boulevards, but walk a bit away from them, and this is what you see. Europeans in general never went for the suburbs as we do in the US. They prefer to live in the cities, where there is action, culture and shopping right around the corner. The down side is less space, of course, but then again, everything has two sides. Warm regards, Barb :) Link to comment
