Nice picture Sondra, it has a great lighting; are you a fan of Ansel Adams? There seems to be some of Adams' influence in it. Very sharp image also. My only comment is that it is weighted a little bit to the left; it sort of pulls you to the left downwards. Straightening the image might help; otherwise it is a very well accomplished shot. Jorge

Sondra, Seeing a high quality mountain photograph such this makes one wonder if it isn't an Ansel Adams piece......It would be a waste of time to suggest any improvement......Great work.......Jim

Jorge, looking at the trees on the left side the image looks straight to me. Maybe a different crop would solve the problem you describe.

As Ansel Adams is one of my heros, I thought this was an unpublished work. Great job, Sondra. I do have to learn more about IR filters on digital cameras after seeing your portfolio and Jim Kerr's. You folks are on to something. Keep up the good work.

Very good rendition,Sondra. The very fact everyone is reminded of Ansal Adams speaks volumes about the excellence of this image.Best regards.

Exceptional!! One of the best landscapes I've seen in a while. I LOVE the detail. Wish I could see the image in its original SIZE. Wonderful work, Sondra!

Sondra:

Must feel good to hear all those comparisons to St. Ansel!

I wonder how cropping a bit off of the right side (and perhaps a bit from the upper edge) might affect the "downward" issue mentioned above. There are a lot of lines heading down from right to left in the image, and the darkness of the sky in the upper right corner may also accentuate this.

Of course, the crop would put the peak a bit off-center, but that might be OK since it is not a symmetrical peak in any case. In addition, the junction of the three valleys in the lower left area provides a bit of a focal point that may balance the similar but inverted triangular shape of the peak.

(A lot of triangles in this scene...)

Nice work,

Dan

Hey, you cropped it.

Wow! To me this really puts the focus on the peak and the lovely light on both ridges extending towards us. (It also loses that little bit of foreground rock in the earlier version at the lower right corner. :-)

Wonderfil light! The shape of the ground is so well defined by the light and shade. The landscape looks massive and solid rather than the more usual surreal effect of IR.
