kent noble 0 Posted July 19, 2007 LennART I am required to post these photos in the Nude category. Believe me I would prefer to post them in the Documentary category where they belong. And frankly speaking I feel silly and small in the presence of "Artists" like yourself.... Seriously Dude. I have looked at your "art" and it seems to me that you have read the Tome "Moody Nudes Volume One" with a little too much fervor. Life is too short to roll around attacking people you don't know. When you see my name look away. Please! By the way LennArt have you met Eric? Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Kent... obviously couldn't fail but see the comment above my mind...and could only guess at what that's all about, but so that we don't have a misunderstanding...please listen closely to what i say and please don't read anything further into what i say. first of all, i want to ask you about this photo and the others in this series...but not from any type of moral perspective, i.e., it isn't about the fact that two women are kissing...it isn't about the nudity ... in and of itself. in looking at the biker party u.s.a series... there is certainly a documentary theme here, and when viewed as a whole...makes a little sense to me. but...in posting a single photograph such as this one...it looses that feel for me. honestly...it comes across as a kind of "in your face", gratuitous sex shot. i realize others won't share my feelings, i certainly wouldn't suggest that your work be censored...in fact i'd come to your defense on that issue. but i honestly fail to understand the purpose for asking for critique on the shot. even as i say this...i question my own question. it does document a moment in the life of two people...it documents a lifestyle...a part of our culture, so how can i argue with that? i guess my question would be to ask your perspective on this shot...and of this series in general. i'm not asking you to "defend" your work...i just think it would be interesting to hear from the photographer himself... what your philosophy is concerning this genre of photography. hope that made sense....! best regards, john Link to comment
josh_ross1 0 Posted July 19, 2007 As John said I don't know what the whole introductory comment is about. All I can do is judge this picture based on what I see. Since John mentioned the whole series I did take a look at the whole series. Part of the reason I was interested is because I just recently saw another shot from this event that I thought was really cool [girl under water with red shoes]. These shots on the other hand I really didn't care for. To me they just look like a collection of snapshots. They do document the event but I really think that there is probably another way it could have been handled that might have really made for great pictures. This particular picture I think is one of the stronger images in the series but like I said I think this whole series should have been handled differently. Link to comment
