Wonderful image, delicate lace diffusing beautifully muted tonalities. The image really captures the essence of what a wedding is all about. There's no doubt in my mind! In my college photo illustration classes this would have been noted as successful on all the levels of successful image creation and communication. It surely speaks to me!

Thanks Jim & Philip. I'm certainly not much of a wedding photog, but I did set this one up in my mind before the wedding. It was actually one of the only ones I envisioned :)

I'm going to take a class in Corel Painter IX in January. Since I can't really paint, I am hoping to learn to paint on the computer :)

Thanks Wilson :) At this point, because I'm still helping out my husband's business, the Mark II is just sitting in it's case :( I used both the 5D & the 20D at this wedding. The Mark II still makes me nervous about taking it outside. You know me, Grace, is NOT my middle name. I think just the thought of dropping it, makes me so nervous, I probably would drop it. Knock on wood, I've not dropped any of my cameras, I'd feel really bad if I did.

The 5D does a really nice job, it's smaller, lighter & the controls are easier to understand after using the 10D & 20D. The Mark II's controls are slightly different & not using it as much I have to "think" more when I use it.

In the near future, (within the next few months) my plan is to return to photography full-time. We bought a small house, immediately next door to ours. We are currently remodeling it into a "guest house"/ "studio" for me. The way it is situated, we can include it in our side/back yard. I'll be able to walk from my back door to it's side door, all inside our fence. It's the perfect size, one story, about 1200 square feet, we are enlarging it a little. It will become a one bedroom, one bath, large living/studio room & a small kitchen. It now has a huge front porch (nice for some informal images), a huge front yard & a 1 1/2 car attached garage (a place for Toby to store the motorcycles:) We all win.

When our family visits, they'll be able to stay in this house/studio. We are raising the ceilings to about 10 feet, which makes it look a lot bigger than it is. This really helps with my studio plans. I'm building an area in the bedroom for my computer, printer, etc. I'll have big storage for my studio lights, cameras, etc. We've placed some windows strategically so they can be used for natural light images too. I'm really excited. The prospect of getting to finally do what I really want to do is very exciting. Art photography. Creating what I envision. That's the plan :) I will NOT do documentary photos, it is just not my dream. Creating art, is my dream. I can't wait!

Thanks Sarah

Thanks Jim- It's quite the mess at present, mud. mud mud :) But it is coming along. If the weather holds out it should have the windows/doors & a finished roof with gutters soon! We are making it match our house, same color, same roof (it's a standing seam blue/green metal roof) The siding will be next (concrete lapboard). I fear the exterior painting will have to wait until spring! Then..... they can start the finish work on the interior. Big fun then!

How exciting, Jayme! Please post pictures of the renovation - we can live vicariously through you! I'm like you - creating art is what I love to do.

As for this picture, it's a different wedding photo, and I'm sure they love it to pieces! Unusual and very appealing. Good eye!
