aeh 0 Posted November 12, 2006 Yes there are. Your comment made me laugh, because there seems to be a lot of photographers laying on their backs next to trees lately. It's a good photo. For some reason I find it makes me dizzy, don't know why. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this. The very best to you from Mn. Al Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted November 12, 2006 I laughed too, Al, I tried this without laying on the ground and got dizzy and a stiff neck! It's a good shot Karen, good selection of trees and colors are very good. Link to comment
jacob tallman 0 Posted November 12, 2006 One of the most beautiful experiences is a peak-fall day with bright sunlight turning the leaves into stained glass. But I have never captured that nor have I seen others. The best attempts seem to evoke memories but do not recreate the experience. Link to comment
karen rexrode 0 Posted November 12, 2006 It's true JR when you mention the experience. After traveling to New England and Canada a few times this year, I have fallen in love with the white birch and their glorious trunks. This shot was taken with the camera on a tripod so it's mostly neck cramp as it's composed. I used a 3 stop variable ND filter and then topped it off with a 3 stop graduated on the left top corner to keep things from blowing out. What I was trying to omit where the greens of hemlocks. Wanted to stop the clouds enough to have that surreal movement. There is a light wind blowing so the leaves of the trees are a in motion. I think that is what makes you feel dizzy. A lot of photographers prop themselves against a tree to keep from getting dizzy so you see 1 strong leading trunk line into the scene. Link to comment
jacob tallman 0 Posted November 16, 2006 I appreciate it more after looking at it with those elements in mind. The nice thing about looking at a persons photos is that they show what is in a person's mind better than a portrait of them. I love birch too. I have many of my own, but you should see Shishkin's paintings of Russia. J Link to comment
