Thanks Juan. I thought having to use my Canon G6 was a lesson in going in close, since it did not have a very strong zoom capability. So, when I switched from Nikon film (with my six lenses) to the digital Canon with a single lens, I felt that I was moving in much more because I had no choice. But you seem to think I'm not getting in close enough, so I will try to examine that. You may be right, because I'm not really an "in your face" kind of guy. And, yes, I have pulled the old tripod out of retirement where it has pretty much been since going digital. It was used on this shot.

well I gotta say I am impressed with that lens....if this was taken from that far away...it's a FN sharp lens!

Nobody knows you like you...I only give suggestions to stir your own thought process...art process...guessing that I am usually wrong.... hopefully that will incourage you to relish in your confidence...something that is evident in your images...Glad to hear that the tripod is out of retirement! Somehow we are either not communicating or you are yanking my chain. All I was trying to do was show you the outside of the building in which this pic was taken. It is an awesome place. Come down and I will show it to you.

OK..."tool board located inside circle" NOT inside building?! But it makes sense that you think I was yanking your chain....it is fun to do...so what your saying then is the lens sucks because it can't shoot through 100 year old wood?........now I have hold of that chain....VWMM

I'm just letting you think you have my chain to yank. I know it makes you feel good. Still waiting for some new posts from you on your site. Maybe you need to come down here and do a shoot.

New Idria is now a ghost town. The mercury mine closed in 1974. A

really fascinating place. You may see much more of it in my portfolio.

Well, I'm moved to tears following your conversation above. To Juan's defense, the board says "outside". On a more serious note - glad the place is closed. Mercury is some very nasty neuro-toxins.

Trust me man, Juan does not need anyone to come to his defense. He's a nutcase and harasses me unmercifully. (Hope you see this Juan) But that's another story. Thanks, again, for the comments. Actually, this place is an environmental disaster, and creates a runoff that is nasty.

Traces of tool's ghost...I like the colors and the tanned wood in comparison to the colors under the tools...a very original way of showing time or the effect of time in a photo...

I find this one very eye-catching. I never commented on it but find myself attracted each time I visit your portfolio. Very good work, David!

Thank you very much. I'm on a cross country trip right now, and getting damn little internet time. Hopefully I'll bring back a few captures to share, but no matter what, I'm having a wee of a time. Take care.
