rkynast 1 Posted November 10, 2006 Alec -many people would pass on this scene but you have turned the mundane into art. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
nerradchoong 0 Posted November 11, 2006 I don't understand why so many people like this picture at all... for me, it's just a point and shoot picture and it's really nothing much. The bottom left part where the guy was washing something is a big distraction for me. The picture has too many subjects or none. Yes, no doubt that you had taken many good one, but definately not this. 2cents Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 11, 2006 Cherlyn, nice of you to see it my way. Richard, I was captivated by the unusual scenery. Spencer, Sircar, Shuki, yes I was taken aback by the lovely reflections. Richard K, you said it all. Darren, I appreciate your frank opinion but look at the other comments and perhaps you will see why this is special to me. Can you truly say you can see a landscape like this anywhere else? I don't find it in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia or Malaysia. I love the rustic nature there and I recommend anyone to go to Inle Lake to see for themselves what natural beauty is all about. Try to open up your eyes to the beauty around us Darren. That's what photography is all about - capturing the essence of a unique place. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted November 11, 2006 Alec,I agree entirely with you about "capturing the essence of a place" or capturing the essence of a personality in a portrait. "A photograph becomes memorable not on account of what photographer looks at the subject, but how he looks at it,that is to say,it is a matter of seeing of "photographic seeing".Authenticity suggests naturalness and naturalness in photography is a rather controversial subject. Thanks for sharing this image of Myanmar.Viewers in the West will not be able to see such a scene, unless they visit SE Asia. Tastes differ. I am learning a lot from You,Cherlyn,Spencer,Bilal,CHiPS,Gul and many other photographers of Singapore, how to reflect the culture and beauty of one's country. That's how I feel. Telling you all this, is tantamount to carrying orchids to Singapore :-) Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 11, 2006 Well said Sircar. "Carrying orchids to Singapore?" Now that's something new. ^_^ Link to comment
