About hundred families of the Wakhi tribe live in the Boroghil

valley, the northern most part of Pakistan, along the Wakhan

corridor of Afghanistan. This photo shows a Wakhi family in the

central living room of their house, where they will spend most of

the time during the coming six winter months. The only surce of

light is an opening on the roof which has a similar construction as

old Buddhist monastries in Tibet. This photo is shot with the

sparce available light. Thanks for your feedback. Karl

This image is awesome. It's the best image of people I've seen for a while even though it's almost like documentary. The mood just puts you right there with them and I can feel myself there taking this picture. Well, in my wildest dreams anyway. It's also technically superb. The only improvement would be giving more space to the sides and bottom but it doesn't even matter because it's such a brilliant image anyway.

Geeze, here I though pakistan was a country full of terrorists, and opium farmers... I was told we should disrespect them, and fear them. But your photos (the others in your gallery) show me other wise. I see beautiful charming people, living in harmony with a beauftil landscape. I do not see angst filled terrorists who are ploying to bring down the west, instead I see a peaceful traditional way of life. Perhaps we westerners have something to learn from these people, not oppress them in our own ignorence and missguided efforts for a better world. Fabulous images, simply wonderful.

I'm with Umair and Teresa...very biblical. The image is compelling...it draws you right into the scene and makes you feel a part of it. Wonderful craft!

The natural lighting is heavenly and for the viewer its as though your sitting down with them being part of their family.

I wonder if the administrators have noticed this. I myself would love to see it nominated as 'Photograph of the Week'.

One of the most fascinating scene's I've seen in a long long time on PN.
