jmichael 0 Posted November 9, 2006 As an avid sunset photographer myself, here are a few things that I try to keep in mind when taking a sunset shot. First, make sure that your horizon is perfect...the tilt of the horizon line here is very distracting. Second, while a sunset is beautiful in itself, the human eye gets bored easy, so look to add something to draw the eye to. The horizontal wave here adds only a little interest. Try to find a foreground object perhaps...or a boat going by...or at least place the sun somewhere other than the middle of the image. In the rule of thirds, I often find that the sky is more interesting than the water...so I'll show 2/3 sky and 1/3 water. I am far from an expert, but these are some of the things I have learned from the talented people on this site. Keep shooting! Link to comment
