Greg, Thanks for the consideration. Taken with NPH. A fine film for portraits but less suited for overcast landscapes than Velvia. Thanks also for the bio photo which reveals less about me than my preferred photo haunts. :-) Best, LM.

I like the horizontal layering within the grass section.

About the use of NPH, it should be adjustable in PS to increase the contrast (using curve) and bump up the saturation a little.

But, as it is, the colors are more subtle and yielded a more sustainable level of realness.

Arthur, Thanks for taking the time. The composition was intentionally arranged to obtain about 1\3 space at the bottom and to be divided in two at the top by the central placement of the reddish tree. Works for me! Though the original file can be adjusted in PS it seems I have not the skills to give a satisfactory result because I have tried. I always prefer the original when I am finished. Perhaps the key word in your second sentence is 'little'. :-) The original truly is close to what I remember the scene looking like; perhaps I should be satisfied with it. Best, LM.

Agree, I have the same experience with my low-contrast shots. You cannot make a real looking bright shot with PS from a dim scene. Colors and tones are very nice here anyway, and the composition is perfect IMO.

Carsten, Thanks for your insight. I just KNOW Velvia would have given this one the snap I was looking for but this rendition has its own appeal. Best, LM.

Hi Len, what is eye catching here is the unusual melange of FG and BG. The juxtaposition is interesting because of the different forms that nature placed together, Technicaly I think that it needed some punch, but still I like it. Greetings.

Pnina, Thanks for stopping by. Yah, a little extra punch was my first thought on this one too. This location is close to me so next year I'll go back armed with Velvia. It'll be interesting to see the difference. Best, LM.

Len:  The layers and compostiion work as does the different fauna in the arrangemnt.  Nice shot.    Alan

I passed by this location a few times that day, each time thinking that there was a composition to be had, but 'how to arrange it?'.  About the 3rd or 4th time past I looked 180 degrees away & found there was a bit of a hill which gave me the elevation I needed to get over the 'horses tails' or whatever they're called.  It was a dull day & perhaps not the best light for a low contrast, low saturation film like Portra NC.  It could be spiced up a bit in Photoshop if one so desired.  Thanks for your comment.  Best, LM.
