martinstott 0 Posted November 7, 2006 thanks for your generous comment star. i have no idea as to why photos are recieving such harsh ratings. i only hope and pray that the P/N moderators eventualy see sense and give up on this mad idea that not having the raters name published with there rating improves the fairness of the rates given. it seems that no matter what image you put up, within moments i have always got at least one 3/3 rating and often more. Sondra i like what you have done with the shot, id just like to say that i haven done the same with the background, it is as shot. Link to comment

jlarson6130 0 Posted December 29, 2006 I can give Some insight into the low ratings, because I am guilty of the deed myself. As an example when I first started here I read FAQ on ratings and ended up at rate recent photos. Well it is a good photo of a Robin, and it's a bird. How original is that? Click-click 4/3 next photo! Little did I know about anything, including that my name was not left. Aesthetics are very subjective but a useful measure. Originality? On photos, that to me is a near useless number. Butterflies, Flowers, portraits how many can really be considered an original work? Technique or something similar would have more benefit to users. So I apologize for leaving what turned out to be not good ratings. I have since adjusted my ratings I gave this photo to better fit my understanding of photography and the Photo net community.
