Great facial expressions and composition--I really like it. I think you probably could adjust the levels a little bit to get a greater tonal range and make it even better, though.

ps... I would agree that perhaps a slight boost in contrast / levels will bring our the emotion of the capture better.

This is good...I agree that the contrast-adjusted photo is better however...because of the connection you have captured between the child and mother. Well done!
