Yet another new type of photography for me--this is one of my first

attempts at a close up shot and my very first flower shot. Any and

all comments are appreciated!

So, I know nothing about shooting flowers--heck, I don't even know what kind of flower this is! I have no macro lens or anything like that--I just saw this flower when I was walking to get my mail and figured "What the heck! I'll try it!" I haven't even really looked at many flower shots to get ideas about what is "good" or "bad" or even what I like but I figured it can't hurt to try to add another dimension to my photography repertoire! All thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated!

I had to reupload this picture so am copying and pasting this previous posted comment from Kolby Cole:

Looks like Hibuscus, but I've only seen those in Hawaii..:) Good color and detail, I think you found another subject to shoot... I expect to see more than 1 flower shot from ya:) I'm off to shoot the fall.. :) Finally.... Happy shooting.. Cole

Wow...as manly as I can say so, I thought this was a pretty flower but my ratings indicated that very few people agree! However, I looked at the top photos for flowers and none of them seem to get very good marks--I guess PN is dominated by flower trolls! Perhaps I should cross flowers off of my photography repertoire...

Tyler, flower shots don't do well here on PN, for some reason. Ignore being ignored.

This is an excellent shot of a hibiscus, which grows wild in the tropics. On my two trips to Cuba, I found the red version of this flower growing wild right down to the high water mark--from near Havana way over to the eastern coast, near Baracoa.

By the way, in Cuba they call this "el mar pacifico," but in Puerto Rico it is spelled "hibiscus," but pronounced differently from how it is pronounced in English.

Thank you for commenting on my portfolio! I was looking through yours and I came across this picture which reminds me of my trip to Mexico back in 2002.. I took a picture that looks exactly like this.. hopefully I'm successful in downloading it here :) (pic is above)
