kurt2006 0 Posted November 2, 2006 Not sure how to rate this because it is simple and has nice overall color. The background being total and continuous black forces the viewer to "make something" of the flame, and I see a bearded man sitting in profile with his knees toward his chest wearing some kind of hat. Did you make it form this shape on purpose? Because of the flame, it is deeply disturbing. I can't rate it, just offer this reaction to it. Technically, I don't know what to make of the extensive blackness...it seems too much. Link to comment

lbattjes 0 Posted November 3, 2006 I don't think the blackness is too much...I think it works well with the flames...it contrasts nicely. I do, however, see a person sitting with his knees bent :) I love to look into the flames and see things that aren't really there. This is both pleasing to look at and intriguing at the same time...nicely done. Leslie Link to comment
rheisch 0 Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks for the comments; this was, after all, posted under "abstract". My theory is that those of us that are mesmerized (aren't we all?) by fire/flames are subliminally bombarded with 1000's of these images (they do exist as these captures show) and not quite able to deal with it at a conscience level (maybe it's a right v. left brain thing?). And no, of course I can't convince these turbulent, gaseous flows to form at my will, I just try to be looking at the right time to capture. Link to comment
