Lighting was pretty bad, in this aged Arena, and I used Neat Image

to subdue the grain. Would that be considered, manipulation.Thank

you for your time and constructive criticism.

To the right. I see that there is something smeared out. Hmmm something was cut out and then you blended in there. Was it just another light that was in the way and causing some distortion? Just wondering. Regardless it is timeless. :) ~ micki

I spent way to much time in publishing and workbooks trying to make things look right to print them and this pic is WAY to good and I wanted to just work on it a bit. I hope this looks ok. I had to work a little pix by pix but I think it really puts the focus on JFX again. I don't clone I use an erase tool but I am thinking about getting some better PS stuff instead of using Photo works or using art stuff. So... I think I am actually going to invest in some real expensive photo correction stuff but I would hate to use it as a crutch.

THIS, however is a masterpiece.

My daughter came home and said WHAT are you doing with JFK and I showed her and she was SO AMAZED that you took this picture and that I was actually working on a real picture that you did.

I told her that I was just trying to use a different technique and the all are learning and that once I work on it I have to delete it because it isn't mine. She was so cute about it. She said it was like her taking one of her friends MYSPACE pictures and fixing it. I just laughed.

The funny thing about working with this picture is your really feel that he is looking straight at you. Boy it sure would have been nice to see this man in his 60's no matter what you thought of his politics.

... I love this post, Doug... what a great moment captured.... good to have you here as a member... when I was in college, I worked for a photographer, Bob S... I would go next door and watch his associate, Tara, develope his b/w stuff... b/w documentary is my "fav" even though I dont shoot alot of it... I own 2 photography books... one of Ansel Admas' works and another book by a female fashion photographer, "Women Before 10am" (all bwhite photography)

I have some of Ansel Adams books too. Always admired his work. Think you'd love Dorothea Lange and Alfred Eisenstadt's works as well. Both exceptional documentary photographers. Rarely see or hear of them today, but their work is timeless. You should see Dorothea's work on the Oklahoma dust bowl of the 1930's.

I've heard of Dorothea Lang and have seen some of her works... I came across her when I was researching another photographer from that same era.... I liked her works
