May I suggest putting the post on the one thirds line. With the post centered it does not have much impact. Regards, Wolf.

Thanks for your suggestion, Wolf. I understand the rule of thirds, but I don't think it needs to be followed in every case. I tried composing this shot with the post to one side, but the background became too distracting, despite the narrow DOF. I think it is stronger as it is.
