Female Plebicula amanda (?) butterfly

I used the manual focus lens with a Nikon-EOS adapter and shot in aperture priority mode. Exif data shows that the camera used the following settings: ISO 200, white balance for daylight, plus 1 stop exposure compensation, internal custom settings contrast-1, saturation+2, sharpness+1.
The camera was hand-held. The image is a tiny little bit cropped, but not manipulated.

Hand-held macro photography with "available light" (no flash) and a

pretty wide open manual focus lens. I wonder, is it even worth it?

Maybe a macro lens say 100mm f/2.8 would help? I think it's worth it, but I like macro. (Still practicing, though.) More light helps, as well. You might enjoy John Shaw's book, "Closeups in Nature."
