sheryl_w__blue_mt._ 0 Posted November 1, 2006 thank you Catalin ......and I'm sure you would like the rest of the property... it's full of old buildings and houses out in the middle of a Alabama...my deceased Uncle Joe's father lived on this property....they owned quite a bit of logging land (Native American decent).... before my uncle passed away, he and dear aunt Betty Jean made one of the houses livable and invited me and other relatives to stay the weekend... it was a nice reunion...(my uncle was the only large and small vetenarian in this county for almost 40 years)... a gentle soul he was... there is a goffer turtle sanctuary/preserve on his land, too... he took us there...a very spiritual place... the turtles live in the dirt in holes on a hillside above a creek.....(I should've had my camera with me for that trip... oh well... Also, civil war soldiers use to come to this spot and replenish their supplies.... I enhanced the photo just a little...this one was a contest winner for the cover of a small local Archeological group that I belong to...I love old things and places....regards, Sheryl Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 1, 2006 You know, from time to time I want to be alone; the place I am looking for has to feel old, to have a minimal comfort and to be completely insulated. A wood cottage, a good fire and a petrol lamp should do for a few days. The problem is that after 24 hours I already miss my dog, my computer and probably the smog of the city. This is a beautiful place to run away when you like. Best regards Link to comment
