"The colossal monolithic statue of Gomateswara is situated at

Sravanbelgola, 158 km away from Bangalore, India. This gigantic statue

of lord Gomateswara, the Jain saint, is carved out of a single block

of granite and stands majestically on top of a hill. This statue is

regarded as one of the largest monolithic statues in the world.

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, devotees and tourists from all over

the world flock to the statue once in 12 years for an event known as

Mahamastikabhisheka. Milk and holy water is poured over the statue in

a spectacle that has to be seen to be believed."

Welcome.

Very good capture,Pulok. The color contrast is amazing. You were lucky to be there during 'Mahamastavisheka. Did you see my presentation on Shravanbelgola? I presume you might like it.

I remember seeing this in Amal's portfolio because the statue is so majestic that it leave a stong impression. Good presentaion of the 2 pilgrims that shows a good sense of scale as to how big this statue is. Also like the bright colours of the 2 pilgrims.
