I was about to remove the flares in PS but now I have second thoughts.

Do I have to remove these flares?

I say no. The dunes provide a nice diagonal line in one direction, the flares provide balance by providing an opposite tone in the opposite direction.

This is a very nice shot. I'd try removing the flares and see if you like the photo better with out them. I thought they were a little distracting, but that's just me.

I love this picture; composition, lighting, texture... As far as flares, I personally sometimes prefer unpolished photograph, because it IS a photograph, not a painting (yes, yes this is a creative process, especially now with all the artistic tools...). However, to me these do not clearly look like flares, they cold have been some kind of defect, therefore I would remove them.

Flair, sure, but look at those dunes and the light you got. Sure you can remove them but, hey, you could also put in a sky full of interesting clouds, and a few birds, and hey why not some tyre tracts...nah, I like it as it is...

I'd probably remove them here. The movies have gotten us used to seeing that flare on a sunny desert, but here it doesn't really look that glaringly sunny- more of a moonscape-look- and I don't know that the flare adds anything.

Seems like a split decision here. Normally I would vote for keeping the flares, but if I put my finger over them, there is no interference with the exquisite toning that gradiates from the horizon, so I would try it without...

Thank you all for your comments.... I see opinions are splitted.

When I composed this pic through the viewfinder, I believed I avoided the flares. But I found these when I downloaded the image file onto the computer.... I will take the liberty of pondering some more time before I make up my minds.
