mohsens 0 Posted October 20, 2006 There are 3/3 ratings but no one has told what is the problem. is there anyone who has time for that? :)) Link to comment
soltani 0 Posted October 21, 2006 I think your photo has been under rated. Any way :1. The pose, smile, eyes are great. very natural and nothig wrong with that.2. I like the tones and the color. Many might want to see natural colors.3. Iam unsure, but It seems that your photo had been blury and u fixed it by sharpening it in PS. If so, you have over done it. You'll get better results by using Smart Sharpen/Motion blur and trying different angles, but don't over do it.Any way the photo looks a bit too sharp.4. I'd like to see more detail to the boy's face. You could use a High Pass filter on a duplicated layer, and blending options/hard light with an opacity wich makes it look as u wish.5. I am not bothered by the centering of the subject here, but many give 3/3s just because the subject is nearly centered and is looking in to the camera. I think this is a bonus here.6. Portraits are nearly always under rated, I mean u mast have noticed that getting high ratings in the portraits category is realy hard; and IMO u should have put this photo in childrens category.Regards. cyrus khamak 0 Posted October 21, 2006 I agree with most everything Ali has already mentioned, also:The problem, I think, is the fact that this looks more like a snap shot, but a very good one though, I must say. This photo means something to you and the people related to this cute little boy but it probably doesn't mean much to a stranger. To mean something to me or someone else who doesn't know this person, it has to represent more than a happy smile. It has to either present an extremely good capture and/or convey some sort of meaning, message or simply has to be artful in it's content and this photo is lacking there. Simply, the photo has to work at a level beyond the model itself. My honest rating on this would be 5 for Aesthetics and 4 for originality. In it's true meaning, 5 would mean "good" and 4, average. Nw, I would have considered 6 for aesthetics,if it was composed in a more intriguing way or even 7, if it was also captured in a more dramatic lighting and with a more interesting pose and composure.Cheers Link to comment
mohsens 0 Posted October 22, 2006 Thank you both for your guidance. Yes, that was really a snapshot. I think there are lots of things I must learn about portraits. Link to comment
