aepelbacher 0 Posted October 19, 2006 I want to be better at taking photos of people on the street ... sometimes "stolen" images, and sometimes with permission like this one. I can't take credit for the conversation that led to this shot. Sarah started talking with this kiddo and he was so friendly and had such a gorgeous smile that we both asked if we could photograph him. He seemed delighted that we would ask. I think that he would have posed for a dozen more shots if we had wanted. I didn't notice the discolored skin on his arm until looking at the photo later. Anyway, he was a total sweetie. I loved taking this shot! Photographically, do you think that his face is a bit too dark? Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted October 19, 2006 Great natural smile! I like the background here as its puts him into a bit of context. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted October 19, 2006 The background, as Colin says, is important in this shot. Nevertheless, and without losing its presence and its telling us about what it's going on and the place, I would have opened the shutter in order to decreae the DOF and have the backgound merely suggested. Just MHO, Lou Ann Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 19, 2006 I agree with you about the DOF, Alberto. Sarah was talking with this guy and about to take his photo when I turned from what I was doing and realized that he was going to pose. I didn't even check the settings on my camera ... just shot. I wish that I HAD gotten the shallower DOF ... and that I had taken more than just one frame. Live and learn!! :-) Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Great candid shot, Lou Ann. I wish I could take pictures of strangers like Howard Dion does so easily. You seem to be getting the hang of it! Probably the more you do it, the easier it gets. Link to comment
