greg mccracken 13 Posted October 11, 2006 Hey Len, This is great! I think you take the prize with that one. Great composition! I was standing right beside you and didn't get a comp like that! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 11, 2006 Greg, That's because I was hoggin' the best spot:-) I think we both got some satisfying results that day. Best, LM. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 11, 2006 Len, Fine composition, popping colors and soothing water flow: all worked like a crisply played chamber music piece. If there's anything else to do with this, I would USM it a little more in PS but if an impressionistic feel is what you want then leave it because it works for me, too. Congrats! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 13, 2006 Arthur, Good to hear from you again & again I learn from your comments. Being a lazy type I'll go with 'impressionistic' this time around but will take your suggestion to heart when I decide to print. To critique my own, I'm thinking a touch of brightening of the water flow might also help. (just figured out how to use the lasso tool, .....cool!) Colours courtesy of Mother Nature & (the new love of my life) Velvia. Composition thanks to my hoggin' the best spot on the bridge from my shooting partner that day, Greg Mc Cracken (check out his portfolio for some visual treats, especially his 6 shot composite of the old Mill - same creek but 180 degrees from this view) Best, LM. jeff.grant 0 Posted October 19, 2006 Len, this is another winner. The classic fall shot with a twist, you must be pretty pleased with this. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 19, 2006 Jeff, Thank you. Yes, this one rang the bell for me. I'm pleased with it. Now all I have to do is repeat it at least once in every 200 or 300 shots:-) Not to say it couldn't be improved. Here's a version with the water & both bottom corners tweaked for a bit more detail. Best, LM. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Nice one LC ! ....... I agree with Arthurs comment - and that it works either way. Glad to hear about the switch to Velvia ! *finally* Is it iso 50 or 100 ? I'm thinking I like the untweaked version just a bit better - moodier being darker I suppose. Perhaps a compromise between the two. What scanner are you using these days? - And what size file do you end up with after the scan? Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 20, 2006 Kenny me boy! Where've you been? Good to hear from you again. The film was ISO 50 though that's getting as scarce as hen's teeth around here. I've also tried the 100F & was pleased with it also. Don't know if I can get straight 100 but perhaps I'll try to. After 200 or so 'at bats' I finally got a base hit. Now to repeat it, there's the challange. Glad you like the original version. I posted it with too much haste & after studying it for a while decided to tweak it a bit. I printed the tweaked version to 12" x 18" via Costco. Only $2.99, & that's Canadian funds! You guys must almost get them for free:-) I'm using a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual ll and end up with a 9mb file before running it through PS & upsizing to 12 x 18. The file gets to about 20mb after I'm through with it. Don't be a stranger. Best, LM. Link to comment
