Have a Coke and a Smile

This is a radical crop on a photo that I took of a student. I figure that since you can't see her whole face, she's not identifiable. Anyway, we gave the kids sodas at a field day that we held in September, and I have lots of fun shots of the kids walking all over the place with Coca-Colas. The Coke company should have sent their own photographer to do PR shots. :-)

If you're old enough to remember the song from Coke's Hilltop ad, Lou Ann, this picture reminded me of it. Nice!

Lou Ann, I thought perhaps an even more radical (square) crop might better isolate the smile and coke - the essence of the image.

Embarrassed I have been away so long LA.... but had to comment on this one. You could probably make a mint using this as a product shot.

 

I really like YOUR crop best and the feeling of fun, summer etc is contagious. Makes ME smile and want a Coke... and I don't even like the stuff!

Yes you could probably sell this image to the Coca-Cola folks, yes I like your version and yes I like the tighter crop. It's hard to resist such a happy smile and that RED can. A good composition....color, well framed, sharp exposure and good subject matter.

Thanks, all. I have to add that I had trouble deciding if this was a fun photo, or if I just liked it so much because I really like this kid a lot. She's delightful, and her smile says it all. :-)

i like the hands on the coke in the original crop. this is not a casual hold on the coke. this is a grip on a real prize.

Thanks, again, all. I really, really wish that I felt comfortable showing you the entire original image with her entire face (it's actually her torso to the waist). It's a delightful shot of a very sweet girl.... but alas, with the internet being what it is ..........

Sorry I've been too busy to get on here much lately. Glad I popped over today, though...this shot is great! I used to loooooooove Coke...sometimes still wish I could drink it..sigh. I remember this feeling of joy...I love the commercials, this would certainly work for one. Thanks for the smile :)

It's not, IMHO, a radical crop (well, it is, of course!) but a fantastic crop. You have centered our attention in the beautiful interplay between the coke and her explosive smile.

Dear Lou Ann, this image deserves being bought by the Ad Dpt. of Coca Cola.
