Unfortunately this comp does nothing for me,i know there is a beutifull corsair in there. This angle shows none of the trademark corsair attributes.Cheers Duncan

If I may respectfully disagree with our friend Duncan; it is precisely the unusual view here that makes this photo. This is certainly not a perspective that we have grown accustomed to seeing, yet there is no mistaking the subject. This is the view of the mechanic; the groundcrewman.

Good work August. I notice that you have posted several other non-traditional angles lately. I for one appreciate the almost abstract qualities of this type of photo.

Thanks guys. I understand where Duncan is coming from. There's a school of thought that a picture of a plane like this should express the essential Corsairness of the Corsair, as opposed to what I have done, which is to appropriate the form of the Corsair for my own nefarious aesthetic ends. I sometimes enjoy doing this (and thanks for appreciating it Andre) but I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Of course, in a sense, this is as true as any other unmanipulated photo and could be seen as another way to look at the bird.

Dan, this plane pretty much was derelict at the time. It had sat in the weather for 10 years after being used in the Black Sheep TV series and by this point was in very rough shape with a lot of bits missing (ailerons, left wheel, etc.). At the time I was amazed that a Corsair that was flying in 1978 would be allowed to deteriorate to this point. Not to worry though, it is under restoration now to better than new.

First thank you for the comments on my photos. Greatly appreciated. Second this is a great photo. It took me a moment to realize what it is but the angle is what makes this photo. If memory serves there is less than 8 Vought F4U Corsairs' flyable in the world. I hope this one makes it up.
