glogower 0 Posted October 8, 2006 Adorable shot of a beautiful girl. Would like to have seen a bit more detail in her hair on the right side. Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted October 8, 2006 The tinge of softness is just perfect for the beautiful little girl. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 8, 2006 Andy, I do have more detail in my original; I was playing around with different styles on this shot. I may rework it before I'm done. Thanks for visiting, guys! Link to comment
reddoor 0 Posted October 8, 2006 Great framing. I don't mind the lack of detail to the right. Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted October 8, 2006 Excellent as is. For me, the darker hair/light falloff to the right adds compositional value. A very cute image. Was this taken indoors or outdoors, Kim? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 8, 2006 This was an outdoor shot, taken while the two kids were playing with chalk on the driveway. I have a few more post, but like to vary the shots I post whenever I can. Thanks for taking the time to comment, everyone. Link to comment
thinhnguyen 0 Posted October 8, 2006 You caught a great moment of this kid with beautiful hair & smile. Very nice tone, nice view point & composition. Regards. Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted October 8, 2006 A wonderful portrait, Kim. She's precious. Amazing that you got her to look directly into the camera. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 8, 2006 The secret to getting good kid shots is to let them play while you stick around with a camera. Every once in awhile, I would say something funny and Sydney would look up and smile at me. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted October 9, 2006 A wonderful capture. You are correct about capturing kids. I feel you capture more natural personality by letting them play, thus allowing them to feel more comfortable with the camera :) I love the composition & the highlights in the hair, plus the wonderful way her head is tilted with the sweet smile :) On my monitor it looks a little cool, (of course this could just be my screwy monitor). I played & added a color shift toward yellow, it looked warmer. But again, it's probably my monitor, driving me crazy! (Short trip). Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 9, 2006 I like your version, Jayme. Sydney does have a large pink birthmark on her forehead and was playing outside in the heat, so was very flushed, hence the pink skin tones. But even though my version is probably closer to the way she looked, I kind of prefer yours; you don't notice the birthmark at all. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted October 10, 2006 Yes, looks a bit blue but tack sharp and clean. Lovely composition Kim. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted October 11, 2006 Charming - what a lovely smile. You certainly made contact there, Kim. and the smile goes with the composition too. Link to comment
blackdogstudio 0 Posted October 11, 2006 A beautiful girl with an elegant smile. Very effectively cropped by using her hair as a guide. What a wonderful expression. Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted October 13, 2006 So lovely and so charming. You are 'mastering' kids great I think. Link to comment
BobSandford 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Interesting approach locating her face in the bottom left corner. I think the angle at which this was taken fits well with the crop. The darkness of the hair, background, and frame seems heavy-handed and yet is effective. What influenced this choice I wonder? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Thanks, everyone. Bob, I always try different crops to see what will work. I had been looking down at Sydney when I took the picture, so I think that's why I went with this particular crop. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted October 28, 2006 This shot is adorable and again, your crop and the tilt of her head are really appealing. I love the look you've captured here. I think your original version is very good, but after seeing Jayme's version, I think I may lean towards it...both are very good, though :) Leslie Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 29, 2006 I'll be printing this one for a Christmas gift for Grandma and Mom, so I'll see what looks best (mine or Jayme's) when it prints. Thanks for visiting! Link to comment
