wingell 0 Posted October 4, 2006 In the spring of 1968, thousands of Americans, led by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, built a tent and plywood "city" on the mall in Washington, DC, to demand governmental action against poverty. The demonstrators were arrested when they sat-in at various federal departments. Folksinger Pete Seeger performed for the protestors at their encampment. Your comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks...Bill Link to comment
corkman 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Lived in Baltimore at the time and almost made it there. Interesting statement made in this excellent capture - poverty (and music)cross all cultural and racial lines. Link to comment
Alex_Es 388 Posted October 13, 2006 I am going to say the obvious. This is a very good photograph. It is also a historically important photograph. Thank you for sharing it with us. Link to comment
