In the spring of 1968, thousands of Americans, led by the Southern

Christian Leadership Conference, built a tent and plywood "city" on

the mall in Washington, DC, to demand governmental action against

poverty. The demonstrators were arrested when they sat-in at various

federal departments. Folksinger Pete Seeger performed for the

protestors at their encampment. Your comments and critiques are always

Lived in Baltimore at the time and almost made it there. Interesting statement made in this excellent capture - poverty (and music)cross all cultural and racial lines.

I am going to say the obvious. This is a very good photograph. It is also a historically important photograph. Thank you for sharing it with us.
