climbingstitch 0 Posted September 27, 2006 I want to do a few versions of this photo but I really want to know what you think. What do you think I should change or not change? Any praises and or criticism would be most appreciated. Please look at the photo larger and enjoy. Thank you for looking. Link to comment

ha-ni-ton 0 Posted September 27, 2006 i can't praise more, sean. i'd only suggest, for new photos, similar skins between your earth and your hands. Link to comment
olesya storozhuk 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Yes, very striking! That's exactly what we humans do: paint the World with colours only we like, hold it in our hands controlling this dirty prozess of cheap handicraft. With no responsibility, no artistic details. PS: And these are the FINISHING touches... Link to comment
sully 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Sean, I read this photo as the hands of God putting the finishing touches on the Earth. My wife didn't read that deep into it. If that was your message, I think it is fabulous and very creative. If not, I hate it when my wife is right. I will never hear the end of it! The lighting and colors are wonderful. I would make sure the left thumb is in focus as well. That is the only distracting part for me. I know this shot must have been trickey to set up. Congratulations to you. Link to comment
climbingstitch 0 Posted September 28, 2006 I really thank all of you for your kind words and interpretations of my work. I will continue to put versions of this and other ideas revolving around the earth on here please feel free to comment on any one of them to help me in the future. Some of you gave me 7 on creativity and not 7 in aesthetics what can I do to improve on this. I know something that bothers me is my left hand not being in focus. It was a strange set up. I had a shutter speed of 60 at f/11, with that is there any suggestions. Link to comment
sully 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Sean, A couple of thoughts; 1) The image could be a composite of two shots. One focusing on the right hand and the second shot focusing on the left hand. 2) Try to find a way where your hands are further from the camera. Link to comment
rudolph 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Fantastic Idea, never seen it done before-congratulations. However The lighting could bee a little more 'pro', as the right index finger is a little over exposed. Also the pose of the right fingers could be a little more dramatic if the Earth rested on the fingers in the same way a diamond rests in a wedding ring setting.Love to see this shot with medium format! tranhuy 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Beautiful photo, Sean. Great composition and color. Sorry no 7s due to PN rules. Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted September 28, 2006 Great idea. The only thing I can see that could be an improvement is to adjust the colours of the globe or to have used different paint, as the colours don't match perfectly (as I imagine God to have achieved). Nevertheless, I would never have thought of this idea myself! I am sure that this would be a very popular poster! Link to comment
climbingstitch 0 Posted September 29, 2006 Thank you Antonio for your ideas, I am sure your right that the shot would look amazing with a medium format camera unfortunately for me I can?t afford it right now(hmmmm it would be nice) haha. I was thinking with the lighting that it was space so I wanted it to be really dramatic but I will experiment some more and see if anything catches my eye. Holding it like a diamond was another idea I had but not sure how I am going to pull it off in time this project sort of caught me off guard with my up coming world trip and all but I am excited to see where I can make of it. Thanks also to everyone else who has made comments. Lucy yours are helpful as well. I think that it would be hard considering the texture differences (plus I have not mixed paint in years) to mach the color, I will see what I can do. It was almost like God was painting the earth in a messy way, like he was a kid and this was a project for school but that?s another idea that I have. Really, I mean it I really thank all who comment as I said this will be a project for me where I will take hundreds of pictures revolving around the Earth and any ideas to improve my work are appreciated. Ps Huy Tran I am unfamiliar with rules pertaining to ratings could you please fill me in. Thank you for your kind comments as well. I am amazed with your photos wildlife is a big interest to me I just have not traveled enough but that is the plan. Thank you everyone please keep commenting and rating thank you.. Link to comment
